What is a profit boost?
A token that increases the profit of a winning bet by a percentage — a 25% boost turns +200 into effective +250. The stake itself is never boosted, which is why the effective odds formula is Ob = 1 + (O − 1) × (1 + b).
Why a boost may still produce a qualifying loss
Hedging both sides always costs the books' margin. A boost offsets that cost — $100 at +200 boosted 25% and hedged at −300 locks in about −$12.50 instead of −$25.00 unboosted. The boost added $12.50 of real value even though the locked result stayed negative. Boosts turn profitable when the boost is large, the odds are long, or the market is tight.
How maximum boost caps work
"25% boost up to $50 extra winnings" caps the incremental payout. Once the cap binds, your effective odds drop below the advertised boost — the calculator recomputes them and hedges the capped reality, not the marketing number.
